After completely living in my wellies for the past few weeks and suffering from bad blisters from them.....Ive decided its time for me to invest in a new pair.
Im off to Glastonbury Festival this summer, so wanted something fair quirky and cool - rather than your bog standard green wellies. After doing some browsing on the internet, im now in love with the Hunter range of Wellington Boots. Theres so much choice in colour (My favourite being Aubergine), and also after doing a search on Google - I learnt that there is also these.......

A Jimmy Choo/Hunter collaboration - Arent they just beautiful!!
GHD's were recommended to me by my best friend whos a hairdresser and owner of her own salon. They are, as i believe, the best hair straightners/stylers sold in the UK to date. They heat up in a matter of seconds (well maybe about a minute) and im not talking just lukewarm, im talking iron hot! The ceramic plates glide through the hair, leaving it perfectly straight with an added, as i like to call it, GHD shine!!

I currently have the IV straightener which is perfect for my hair length. I honestly could not live without them - Ive tried so many different straighteners over the years from Babyliss to Toni & Guy and nothing comes close to the super straighteners ...GHDs!!
WARNING**Do be careful when purchasing ghd'S online , as there seem to be tons of fake retailers - You can check whether the site you are purchasing from is a GHD retailer on the actual GHD website - GHDhair.com
I was actually really impressed with this eyeliner - It's very long lasting, especially compared ot my other eyeliner of the moment (Benefit Bad Gal) and doesnt smudge. Its very easy to apply, so i would recommend it for anyone who is new to using eyeliners with a brush to give it a try - It may take a couple of attempts to master a perfect application though! So keep your eye makeup remover to hand.

One comment i have heard on the grapevine however, is that this product dries up very very quickly therefore making it clumpy and too dry to apply.
Im loving Kate Garey collections of makeup bags and vanity cases, the designs are so fun and funky!! Check her out online at Kate Garey.com
Gingerbread Man Cosmetics Bag - £14.99
Robot Love Vanity Case - £22.00
After browsing on the Nars counter a couple of weeks ago - i saw the gorgeous Night & Day pallette. The colours are pastel shimmers which i think are perfect for Spring. My favourite is Fathom (Pink with a silver shimmer)

Abyssinia (bottom left) - Delicate pearl sheen, Sugarland (middle left) - Sparkling apricot , Fathom (top left) - Pink tulle with silver shimmer , Cleo (bottom right) - Seafoam with shimmer , Underworld (middle right) - Slate blue, Night Breed (top right) - Black with silver glitter
I loooveeee Barry M Dazzle Dust! And i mean...LOVE it!!
The thing with Barry M products are that theres so young & funky and the colour range is out of this world!! Its an awesome product for those who are loose eyeshadow fans and who are glitterobsessed (Like me!) I find that when applied with a liner brush, they go on really easily and dont seem to smudge at all! My tip is to lick the end of your liner brush slightly and then dip it into the pot and apply to the eye - Doing this seems to pick up more glitter from the pot, to give your eyes that extra shine!!
The only downside to the dazzle dust pots are that they can be a little bit messy - I did have an experience where i didnt put the lid on properly, which resulted in my whole makeup box being covered in silver glitter!!
My favourite colours are - Teal, Silvery Black, Purple and Mushroom. There are, however, over 60 colours to choose from and prices start from around £4!!!
Sadly, i dont yet own one of these, as their not likely to be released in the UK until Feb 2010 - but im very excited in this product. Mainly because.....its very ME.
I love shimmer blushes and bronzers and i find i am always complemented by friends who say my skin looks fabulous when I wear them. I think i may have to put this on my wish list ;)
I currently own 2 different make up removers……
Clarins Gentle Eye Make-up Remover Lotion – As I mentioned in a previous blog, I occasionally suffer from eye infections (most probably caused by the amount of eyeliner & eyeshadow I wear) Because of this, its been difficult trying to find an eye makeup remover that’s not going to irritate my skin – that was until I met this product. It cleanly wipes off my mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow without any sting or scrubbing. Its perfect for daily use as it is, as it states, gentle. As with all Clarins products, it is pretty expensive, but I would say worth it if you are doing your damndest to get a sensitive eye make-up remover.
Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover – I always find that certain makeup removers really dry out and tighten your skin, but as of yet I haven’t had this problem with this particular Clinique product, most likely due to the fact that is slightly oil based – which for my skin is perfect! It does what it says on the tin, by taking off my foundation and everything else on top!!
I most definitely am a make-up hoarder - I hate to throw out part used cosmetics just because ive had them over a certain length of time. But when do we need to have a clear out?
A lot of products vary due to the ingredients used - Natural cosmetics, for example; have a shorter shelf life, as they are packed with less preservatives.
By rule of thumb - This guide is probably best to follow:
Moisturiser - Usually last from 3 months to a year. This may not seem like a huge amount of time, but moisturisers are more prone to bacteria. If you have a moisturiser which has lost its scent or which smells slightly musky, it's probably a good idea to throw it out.
Foundation - Is very similar to moisturiser. It's probably best to keep it for up to a year, and again the scents likely to be a bit musky when its time to bin it.
Mascara - I'm always very cautious with my mascara as im prone to eye infections (bad times) I usually tend to throw mine out after about 6 months, sometimes before. It's a bit easier to tell if a mascara is 'off' if the lid and the brush become very clumpy.
Eyeshadow - I would say eyeshadow is probably the longest lasting cosmetic. I would tend to keep powder eyeshadow for 2-3 years. Liquid or crème eyeshadows however, arent as long lasting - I only tend to keep mine for 12-18 months tops.
Face Powder - Is also fairly long-lasting - I would say 2 years tops, otherwise it may go slightly crumbly.
Eye/Lip Liners - As long as you keep these sharpened, they are likely to last for 18 months- 2 years. I am cautious with keeping eyeliner for too long though due to eye infection.
Lipstick & Gloss - I would only tend to keep either of these for 2 years tops, purely because lipstick is prone to dry out and the gloss container usually becomes sticky. Its a good idea to keep lipgloss brushes clean, especially when used over lipstick or lipstain.
Benefit currently have the silky powder eyeshadow on offer for £8.25, reduced from £12.50.
I'm a huge fan of the Benefit powder eyeshadows. They sweep on the eyelid really easily and from experience, last pretty much all day. (I have it in - guess again (orchid haze) Which i also use as a blending colour) The colour range isn't spectacular, but i would certainly recommend them for day/work wear.
Shades currently available on the website - blushing bride (pristine pink), bossy (fiesty fawn), fishnets (smooth espresso), get away (downtown brown), guess again (orchid haze), low profile (vanilla cream), moody (playful putty), shallow (creamscicle) and soft shoulder (dessert rose)
Chanel transfer tattoos are the upcoming thing for spring/summer 2010 after being all over the season preview catwalks.

They are due to be released in the UK on March 1st, and will only be available from Selfridges. Wait-list orders can be taken at Selfridges on 0800 123 400.Will you be sporting one?
I purchased lipglass in original from MAC whilst i was in New York - And it may be the best lipgloss i have ever brought!!
Its really long lasting, even when i apply it over lipstick or lipcolour. It is the shiniest shiny could be and looks almost like my lips are cover in tiny sparkly little diamonds - OK, Slight exaggeration, but it is a very glassy like shine.
The only downside - and this really isnt a major thing - but on a windy day, you do end up looking like you've eaten a wig......Note to self: Windy day + MAC Lipglass = The need to tie hair up.
Mac have released lipglass in the following tints -
Most Wanted, Cocoamour, Ultra Elegant, Scant, Intimidate, Long Stem Rose, Grenadine, Missy, Bare, Prudeaux, Voile, Pink d’Lush, Urgent, Lovey Dove, Rock Out!, Think Tan, C-Thru, C-Thru, Russian Red, Pink Poodle, Cultured, Nico, Oyster Girl, Pop Mode, Tranceplant, Desire, Nymphette, Prrrr, Spite, Revealing, Lust, Mad Cap.
To follow up on my Chanel's Spring/Summer makeup collection post- I'd also like to mention YSL's. Tbf, their very similar - Girly colours, neutral shades and again, colours i think i may bore of before Summer....but i'll go along with it for now, and enjoy the elegant couture colours of NEW OMBRES 5 LUMIÈRES in #9 Parisian Sky......Lush!!
Chanel have released their new spring range of makeup and I have to say im one impressed lil lady!
The colours are very neutral yet femmine, with lots of pinks, browns, creams and mocha’s. The colours are perfect for spring, but I think they may tire slightly on me when summer arrives.
Im in love with the highlighting powder – its perfect to give off a slight sunkissed look to prepare us for summer!
The cold weather that were having at the moment, isn’t doing anything for my skin! Im sure the majority of you out there are also experiencing the dryness like me!
So after browsing the cream section in Boots, I decided to purchase Soap & Glory’s Righteous Body Butter Lotion.
The consistency is very thin – something which I don’t like in body creams, and something which you wouldn’t expect for a body butter, However, surprisingly on application, its not actually greasy at all and doesn’t leave a horrible greasy shimmer to you skin. It absorbs very very quickly and the scent is really nice, very floral, but not too overpowering at the same time. I’ve found it very long lasting – scent and moisturising wise.
Boots actually have it on offer at the moment – 250ML for £4.33 – Bargain!!

Elf is most probably the cheapest makeup brand available. Nearly all of their products for sale at www.eyeslipsandface.co.uk are priced at £1.50 (£2.95 for delivery) and there is a good range of colours to choose from.
I've read a few reviews on various sites, as im going to make my first purchase from them very soon. The brushes have got rave reviews and at £1.50 a pop, you can't really complain :) !!!
If you have sensitive skin, im guessing ELF is a no no as a lot of people have commented that it can be a bit of an irritant, some even saying that it has given them a rash - But do bear in mind that everyones skin is different , so i think the ELF range is definitely worth a shot if your in need of some new cosmetics but aren't too bothered about the fancy packaging!
I also think i should mention that none of the ELF products are tested on animals , which i think sets a fine example to other cosmetics companies that do - If ELF can keep prices low without testing, why can't other companies??
I'm loving Nail Inc Victoria nail polish (Which is a deep browny colour) at the moment - Brown nails are really in at the moment, and this is most definitely my favourite out the bunch.
I purchased mine from Ebay, but John Lewis are selling it with a free London Phonebox charm (So cute!) I think it's priced around £15.
I picked up this cute little lipbalm set from Urban Outfitters - Which is perfect for keeping those lips moist in the cold weather!!
You get 4 mini pots of lipbalm in the set, all of which are ice cream flavoured - Chocolate, Bubblegum, Strawberry and Vanilla.
Nautical wear - Its back in this season and i love it! I purchased a gorgeous nautical style striped tee from H&M on Sunday (for £5 may i add!!) Im intending on purchasing a military blazer when i get paid too!
Florence & The Machine are coming to my town - Im so excited - Tickets go on sale Friday! Heart Heart Heart!!

My new Chanel eyeshadow pallet - Pics and review to follow shortly . .
Ebay - Its time for a new year clean out. Lets just see if i get time to list everything this week.
The gym - A new year, new start. And i intend to keep it up ;)

The cold weather - When is it ever going to end!!
Blonde hair - Or rather yellowy blonde hair. Thankfully i have now fixed this, and have opted for a mid-brown, Thanks to my BBF and her hair salon!! Pics up shortly.
Celeb Big Bro is about to end - Sad, I know.
Its an old one, but a classic and seeing as i had a 50ml bottle for Christmas, it is my favourite perfume of the moment . . . . . . .Miss Dior Cherie.

Its just sooo darn sweet and long lasting, and the bottle is sooo classy - a design of perfection! Its just a shame that its soo expensive :( Lets just hope this bottle holds out until my birthday in the Summer! :)
Im a big fan of Benefit cosmetics - I love the quality and i love the packaging!!
For Christmas, i received the Bad Gal Eyeliner from my other half and i have to say, im not impressed in the slightest!
It glides on pretty easily as its very soft - which is a good start, but i dont think ive ever worn an eyeliner that smudges so easily!! It is the blackest of black on application but after about an hour it fades a lot and I find by brunch im having to reapply. At around £13 a pop, its not the cheapest either, and if its not doing its job properly, its not worth buying.
Bad bad Benefit!
The Crabtree & Evelyn sale is still on with further reductions now made!! (Link below)
Some of the hand care caddy sets have been reduced to £10, and the make lovely gifts if you know someone with a birthday coming up! The aromotherapy body butter has also been reduced to £10 - I feel a purchase coming on!!
I'm interested to get your POV's on fake tanners.
The fake tan market is huge nowadays - Which is a good thing due to cancer related risks with sunbeds. However, there are sooo many to choose from and many FT newbies are stuck with which one to buy - Remember, most expensive isnt neccessarily the best!
Ive created a poll to see which of the most popular brands comes out top trumps. I'm intending to make either a video or some sort of demo on the best one later on (and once i get my videocamera sorted!)
[polldaddy poll=2595985]
I do want this blog to be all about fun, however I think I should highlight the Haiti earthquake appeal, and the need for donations to various charities to support the aid work.
Donations are very much welcome I understand through the following charities. The support over there at the moment seems truly amazing, but is reliant on donations from the public. If you know of any further charities who are taking donations, please let me know.
After a recent shopping trip to New York – I stumbled upon a little gem…..Bath & Body Works.
Now im guessing that in the US, this is the equivalent to the UK’s Body Shop or similar??
I was initially pulled in by the big advertisement in the window which was ‘$15 and under stocking fillers’ – but was absolutely in awe of the variety of bubble baths, hand lotions and sprays. I purchased 5 (yes 5!) Pocketbac antibacterial hand gels for $5! They are perfect to keep on my desk at work, especially with all the winter viruses and cold going around, and they smell amazing – My favourite being the Japanese Cherry Blossom!
I also grabbed 3 of the fragrance mists as they were buy 2, get 1 free. The scents last ages considering they are only body sprays, and there is sooo much choice!!
FYI Bath & Body Works – Please please please ship to the UK
